From 1st January 2012 these are the only safety system design standards which give the presumption of conformity with the MD. The status of harmonised standards for EU Directives is regularly reviewed and published in the Ofﬁcial Journal of the EU. EN ISO 13849-1 is the most important standard for regulating the basic principles and performance required of a safety control system for machines and devices.
